hey, i stumbled across your journal because i'm horribly, horribly bored and... snooping around lj.
i came across these pics whem you first posted them, so it's neat to match the work with the person behind the camera.
aaaaanyway i've been long saving up for a decent camera, so i was wondering what kind of cam you use (for some reason i get the impression it's a film one?). and lens too.
thaaaanks <3 and nice work in the rest of this journal btw.
Thank you. I remember looking at your photos a while ago as well through Melissa's journal and thinking your photo's were really amazing.
I have two camera's which I use a lot. One is a SLR 35mm and the other is a SLR digital. This was taken with the digital. Since it was a venue I've never shot at before and I didn't know when the next time I would be able to shoot a privite Weakerthans show would be I decided to shoot with the digital. My digital is a Canon 300D (aka Digital Rebel) and for the portrait shot I used a 85mm f/1.8 (but it's more like a 135mm due to digital crop factor) lens and for the group shot I used a 15mm f/2.8 (more like 24mm due to crop) lens. My 35mm camera is also a Canon so I just use the same lens for both camera's. The only other lens I use that much is my 50mm f/1.8.
My 35mm camera is the Ti which isn't that great but it gets the job done. I would like to upgrade soon but I would rather spend money on another lens.
haha I'm so awful at technical termonology... although I do understand what *some* of that means.
funnily enough, I've been saving up for a digital rebel, but it's taking so long to do so... and part of me just wants to cop out and go for a film one since that'd be cheaper [granted paying for film and development wouldn't be the greatest thing in the world, but still].
anyhoo, so how do you like the rebel? and you say you use the same lens for both cams -- is that the lens that came with the rebel, or no (since i've heard it's not the greatest lens in the world)?
I'm enjoying the Digital Rebel a lot. I just bought the body for the camera though, I didn't get the kit lens. I heard the kit lens for the Digital Rebel is pretty good for a zoom kit lens though which is surprised because from what I understand kit lens are usually pretty bad (my kit lens for the Canon Ti isn't that good I must say
