Just a quickish one because I'm kinda tired - I just want to post some stuff while I remember (will probably add more later). Bah.
Anyhow - I found a house, at last! It's a nice little house I think, I move in at the end of the month although we haven't decided who gets which room yet, I know which one I want. The day we move in marks the first day of my new post-uni life! I'm entering the darkness!
I'm currently writing for some competitions etc (did I post that last time?) - we'll see what happens I guess.
My laptop is dieing though so I need a new computer do anything serious - and I don't have enough money - awww.
I sent a bunch of DVD copies of my final uni film. Lynsey says she's proud of it and Paul, the music conductor said it was 'a lot of fun.' I'm actually being quite positive and optimistic recently so believe me when I say that - to me, there's a big void as far as the film is concerned. We planned on sending it out to festivals but it we didn't finish it to a high enough standard in my opinion.
There's no colour grading or real sound mixing and people's names are spelled incorrectly in the credits - grr, minor mistake I guess. As time goes on it's becoming less likely that we'll get those things done, but I'm okay with that. My biggest dissapointment is that the film doesn't look like how I envisioned - my DOP was pretty much non existant during the pre-production so I had to make some decisions when really I had no clue, I guess I did an alright job concerning. But, the second half of the film just seems to be rushed and there are so many shots that are missed out - and I can't explain why!
There is a vital scene where the two main characters are dancing - there are two vital sections missing that pace the scene properly and create the dramatic effect. The following scene misses a lot out and has a static student look to it - it's a shame because we all worked hard on it, but things just happened as time went on I guess. Although I am the films biggest critic - I have to be I guess.
You learn from that stuff - I hope to tweak those things very soon however, thankfully Lynsey works in a production company and our editor is still in Newcastle :D
Blah...that's the past though so I should move on, there are loads of other things that I want to work on - I want to start up some of my animation ideas again too. Maybe make some music videos like I planned a while ago too - oh we'll see I guess!
Speaking of films though - I've been at the cinema so much recently! I've seen Wall-E multiple times!!! I saw that and The Dark Knight in one day a week ago.
The Dark Knight was good, I overhyped it way too much and it didn't quite live up to it but I still enjoyed it a lot - especially the second time as a few other things hit home more. Could have been better though - Ledger was amazing though, really amazing! It's so sad to know that a talent like him is no longer here - but at least we got to see him do this. I hope for a third one but I won't look forward to it as much as I did this one (maybe because it's not possible ha).
Yesterday I finally saw The X-Files: I Want To Believe too - yeah it got bad reviews and yeah it opened pretty poorly in the US but it was great!! Even Helen thought so and she's not really an X-Files fan! I loved coming back to characters as they are now - yeah it had plot holes concerning the series etc but I didn't care because I really enjoyed it.
The ending had me on the end of my seat! I got really nostalgic - oh I want this series back!!!
I hope it does well in the next week or so because I'd love to see a third one! :D
Screw the media - screw critics! It was awesome! I have my reasons!
I have to start packing soon and get a job - ooooh fun haha!
