I herby submit to the general population, the suggestion that any food product advertised as a specific type of food, must actually contain 51% of the type of food advertised, or put the name in quotes.
For example, no more Kraft Mac & Cheese. Either print Mac & Dairy Product Solids, Whey, Cheese Cultures and Disodium Phosphate or just label it as ( Read more... )

Well.. people aren't concerned with the news anyway. You heard Laura Bush in her first term, right? She was sent to be a talking head cheerleader, and when they persisted in asking her about the atrocities in Iraq, she replied, "Well why would I want to think about that?" In the context that there's enough sunshine in the world to make the sum total of suffering irrelevant.

So even if there was some mainstream news organization that could bring you real news, and they were permitted to do so without censorship. I think it would be about 99% useless. People really, really would rather hear about idiot celebrities doing idiot things. If people were even marginally aware of the global situation, "ethics" would require action. And no one really wants to be bothered.

And about WalMart... yes, absolutely. It is about the last possible place some people can really afford to shop. But my problem is first with their ultra-aggressive approach to capitalism, which views success as big profits not a better world. But to your point, WalMart has helped foster that situation. Those people are forced to sell their labor (and freedom) to trade currency for food, shelter and clothing. Corporations like WalMart (and the distributors they buy from) are only going to pay their employees the absolute minimum they can get away with legally, while they charge the absolute maximum price for goods that they know you can afford to pay.

It's like when Tyler Durden is "selling these women their own fat asses back to them" only in reverse.

Also.... don't go to WalMart!
