PHP and MySQL for the Anarchist Revolution

Aug 06, 2006 16:12

I love PHP so much. And MySQL is so helpful. I wish I had taught myself this stuff three years ago, instead of trying to go to college for "computer science" or "graphic design" or whatever the hell I thought I was doing.

Unfortunately, I don't know my way around Unix or shell commands yet. And that's annoying. I recently took a chunk of my webiste from my local server and uploaded it to my remote host. I rebuilt my database almost from scratch, since the local database I was using has been an experimental and draft incarnation up until this point. So, the live version of my site is full of errors and bugs. But I've crated a dump file of the live database which I just installed locally to debug my new site.

I spend most of my time banging my head against the wall trying to debug simple mistakes on my own, and then when I figure them out I reward myself by groping Lauren inappropriately.

And while basically I haven't done much more than just build a MySpace knock-off at this point, I'm so friggin' happy with myself that I've bothered to put all this shit together. Hopefully I'll stick with it, and build something useful.

The live version of the site should be ready at kaoscorporation.com by Monday night.

Viva la proletariat!
