Lance Bass, who
split with Reichen Lehmkuhl in January, says he's loving the single life.
"I'm in such a great place. I'm so happy I'm myself again," he told PEOPLE Wednesday at a launch party for Armani Exchange A/X sunglasses in the Hollywood Hills. "It's nice to be able to just date, because I had never been on a date in my life."
Bass, 27, and Amazing Race winner Lehmkuhl, 33, first announced they'd broken up in December, but they tried to work things out for two months before calling it quits once and for all.
The former 'N Sync heartthrob revealed he was gay on the cover of PEOPLE in July 2006, admitting: "The main reason I wanted to speak my mind was that [the rumors] really were starting to affect my daily life. Now it feels like it's on my terms. I'm at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God so there's really nothing else that I worry about."
He'll reveal more about his life and his sexuality in his memoir, Out of Sync, due for release in October. For now, he says, it's all good: "I'm having the best time of my life."
