Fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who is a close friend of the Beckhams, predicted: "He has done the right thing by moving. And I think he wants to be an actor, not a soccer player."

And although David Beckham has said. "I am not an actor and I never will be," he has taken on a role.

According to a report in yesterday's The Sunday Mirror, David Beckham has agreed to take part in a film ('Truce') about the unofficial truce of Christmas 1914 when English and German soldiers laid down their arms, emerged from the trenches to sing carols and play football in no-man's land. He will play one of the soldiers who took part in the match.

Quoting a source within the film's production team, the article goes on to say that, although the former England captain will be moving to Los Angeles at the end of the season, he "has no ambitions to become a famous actor. But he likes to make cameo appearances as a footballer."

The film, which will be shot next year, will be directed by Ukranian director, Vadim Perelman, who is perhaps best known for his 2003 film 'House of Sand and Fog'.

Beckham is expected to kick start his acting career properly once he finally arrives in LA this summer where he will play for MLS team the LA Galaxy.
