Chinese- American crooner Fei Xiang, 45 (YES, he is 45!!!) is in Singapore for the musical CABARET.

Born in Taiwan to an American father and Chinese mother, Fei catapulted to fame in 1982 when he signed with a major record label with a view to breaking into the Taiwanese market.

He was soon singing across Asia and has since sold more than 20 million albums.

Itching to start a professional acting career, Fei moved to New York in 1990 and subsequently appeared in Miss Saigon on Broadway and with Andrew Lloyd Webber's touring Music of Night show.

He never quite left the Mandopop scene, however, satisfying his fans by holding concerts in Asia several times a year.

Set in Berlin at the beginning of the Third Reich, the musical revolves around the romance between an English cabaret performer and an American writer.

Through this couple, the songs and the Emcee's manipulative direction, the audience sees the political and social changes going on in a place that Fei feels is not unlike our own.
