I have found myself in a place named Purgatorium. From what I have been able to gather, it served as a punishment ground of sorts run by gods/goddesses who watch over things and people. There are two levels as well, one below the plate and one above. It would appear that the goal is to be 'redeemed' enough to be given access to the world above.
I, however, will not be.
There are creatures that roam this place, ones that do not exactly look like ones I have known, nor do they show signs of being infected with any of the viruses. These people claim to be from different worlds, some claiming they have magic or the like. Such is hardly unbelievable when there are things such as dragons roaming about. To confirm or deny this will require more investigation on my part.
Given the setting, I can hardly wait to begin anew my research. There seems to be little else to fill my time thus far. I spend a good deal of my time scavenging among the rubble for crude insturments to use such as strips of metal I can sharpen against a rock to serve as scalpels or thinner ones to use as pins. One can only imagine what the T-virus can do in a place where magic may very well exist or that the rules of reality are not as stable as they should be. Even being from another world may make a difference in a set of DNA not seen before. It should be worthwhile to see what each does, how the mutations differ.
I have a cockroach and a mouse so far, and I shall release both or one soon. I don't fear another Raccoon City, where the rats carried the virus out to the population. There are enough safeguards against that happening twice. So with my crude laboratory and my food jar specimen bottles, I think I am ready to begin and start seeking my first non-animal subject.
