The turtle wished that it could fly really high into the sky

So, I've decided to stay in grad school. No, I'm not good at being decisive. Yes, it probably would have been easier to not go through all of this crazy for a month and a half. I was looking around for sciency jobs that I could do with an MS, and right now it's a lot of tech jobs (nothin' wrong with those, but not what I want to do right now) and administrative assistant jobs. Nothing wrong with those either, but to be honest if I was going to be a tech, I might as well just stay in grad school. I get to be more independent and get a spiffy degree afterwards. As far as doing admin stuff, well, I'd be terrible at it. I can force myself to be organized, but I'm never going to be naturally good at it. It's just not my strength. Over the years I've set up different systems for myself to keep things more or less up to date and organized, but there are totally people who are better at it than me.

Further, I found out that if I want to do consulting work, I could totally start up now, with a master's. I could do it. But I'd always be answering to someone with a PhD. I would be less likely to go in front of clients, because PhDs are more marketable than MS scientists. And if I ever wanted to go in for myself, it would be hard. Furthermore, I think that, when this whole process is over, I will leave with a much better understanding of science fundamentals, the politics, and how to communicate about it all. I've still got a lot I need to learn. And this is a great place to do it. I love my advisor. I really can't express that enough. Jim is awesome and pushes us and is ALSO focused on communication, so it's a really great fit. And we're dealing with fundamentals, which is important. Also, right now Seattle thinks it's springtime and my CHERRY TREE is blooming. Yes, I have a cherry tree. Aren't you jealous? Though it may not actually bear fruit. Sadface.

In other news, I am going to two weddings in two weeks, and I purchased these shoes to wear to them.

Yes, they are 4 in heels. Yes, they are even more awesome in person. I will be tall! Err...average hight! Hooray! And they are surprisingly comfortable. Generally, I think Steve Madden shoes are pretty but way uncomfortable, but these are the comfiest heels I have ever worn. They will be even comfier once I put pads on the ball of the foot, oh yes, they will be glorious. And I will paint my nails blue.

I also have this dress for the black tie optional wedding:

and this dress for the more casual wedding:

Though I also have this other dress, which is pretty awesome and has real sleeves, so it wouldn't need to be worn with a bolero (because it's in a synagogue. Modest dress and all.) It is pretty and brightly colored and could work for the more casual wedding.

Also, I am dyeing my hair blue again. Hooray! I will be sexy in my blue dress with blue hair and really tall shoes. And I have a peacock feather fascinator, since I wear something on my head at all times these days. I also am now the proud owner of a bright red pea coat. Because evidently the midwest is cold right now and I have to walk a lot in Cleveland this weekend.

Summary: Chemisty! and COLORS! and SHOES! Hooray!
