This was a perfect day in the eyes of Javert. It was cloudy and almost was cold enough for a warm scarf and a big greatcoat. Even though it wasn't as chilly as he wished it to be, Javert was wrapped in his black greatcoat. A black tophat sitting on his head and his grey hair pulled back into a tight, neat ponytail was streaming down his back; he ( Read more... )

The parlour will be already occupied when he arrives: Valjean sits before a crackling fire, a very civilized tray of tea, sandwiches and scones laid out on a small table at his side.

Javert stood in the doorway, surprised to see what he had come there to do and to see Valjean sitting before the fire. Silently, he shrugged off his coat and removed the rose from within, walking over to the seated figure. He set the rose down over Valjean's cup of tea, poured himself a cup, and sat in a chair close by.

"You are becoming a creature of habit, my dear," Valjean remarked, faint amusement dancing in his eyes. "It was all too easy to anticipate your arrival."

He gestured to the rose with long fingers, smiling softly at the sight of it. "Is that for me?"

Javert chuckled softly and nodded. "Oui." He smiled gently. "Am I really that predictable?"

A hand came up behind his head and removed the dark blue ribbon from the mass of grey strands. He ran his fingers through his wet locks for a moment, then looked to Valjean. "You look well, love." He reached over and brushed his fingers over Valjean's cheek. "How have you been?"

"A little predictability is no bad thing at our time of life." Valjean rose with another smile, sweeping a blanket from the back of his chair along with him to squeeze the water out of his hair.

"I've been well," he answered finally, satisfied with his work. "I don't think I need to ask how you are - you will have a fine cold by morning."

A broken little purr escaped Javert's throat as Valjean worked to dry his hair. "I will not. I won't allow it." He reached up in time to take a hold of one of Valjean's hands, kissing the back. "Mmm." A small smile crossed his lips. "Valjean, do you know how much I adore you, or have I not reminded you enough?"

Pressing a kiss to his temple, Valjean murmured an answer against his skin. "Repetition could not possibly make the knowledge less sweet."

"I love you."

Closing his eyes contentedly, Javert purred in a soothing, rhtymic fashion. He was thinking as he purred; thinking of how he might propose marriage to Valjean again, and if it was a good time to even ponder it. However, he was curious to his lover's reaction.. was it even the right time?

"Mm, I love you too." Were such a thought presented to him, Valjean would be pleased yet hesitant; he was still uncomfortable, in spite of himself, of the 'casual' nature of their relationship, but fearful of rushing too fast into commitment once again.

At that moment, however, he was perfectly content, moving away momentarily only to draw a chaise longue closer to the fire in place of his chair. "Perhaps a change of seating arrangement, my dear?"

A smile rose to Javert's lips. "A charming idea." He grinned this time. "What did you have in mind, my love?"

"The sharing of body heat is most beneficial in the prevention of influenza, I've been told," was his seemingly solemn reply, eyes bright with faint mischief.

He sprawled out across the chaise longue with a small sigh, holding out his arms in invitation. "Come. Make yourself comfortable."

Tired grey eyes twinkled with a touch of joy, and he stood, only to crawl comfortably into Valjean's arms with a sigh of contentment. Javert wrapped his arms around his love, pressing gently against him. "Mm.. I can see why it would protect against it."

It had been a while since was snuggled with Valjean, and it felt very good, and very right. Javert pressed a kiss to Valjean's lips, a light touch.

Valjean lifted a hand to the back of his neck, holding him close for another soft kiss, then leaned their foreheads together gently, fingers working through his hair in unhurried rhythm.

"We ought to while away the hours like this more often."

"Agreed," he replied with a rumbling purr. It was heaven to lie there with his lover, sharing soft kisses. Javert opened his eyes halfway to gaze at Valjean, his hand coming up to stroke back a few strands of his hair.

"Much more enjoyable than standing outside to become drenched in a rainstorm," he chided softly, returning his gaze with evident adoration.

Javert chuckled. "You watched me, then, I take it?" He kissed Valjean again, then buried his nose in his hair. Valjean had a comforting scent, one that he came to adore. He shivered pleasantly. This was nice.
