Dear Yuletide Author 2019

Nov 03, 2019 13:35

First Of All

Thank you for writing for me, anon! Not to get too far into it, but this has, unequivocally, been the worst fucking year of my life. I'm so glad it's almost over, and I'm so glad that I have Yuletide to look forward to. Yuletide is, without a doubt, one of the biggest highlights of my year, and I'm sure I will love anything you write for me. But since you're here, you're obviously looking for specifics, so I'll do my best to explain myself. If you're interested in looking at the fic I've written myself for Yuletide or in general, you can find that here. If you are worried, dear author, that we matched on the one fandom I wasn't super into, let me alleviate that angst right now. There is no lesser one here. I am really fond of them all. Some I have more ideas about, but that's only because for the others, I'm only interested one specific dynamic or set of characters.

General Likes/Dislikes

Likes:
  • UST (preferably resolved)
  • Pining, someone falling in love with someone else despite trying not to, falling in love and thinking it's not reciprocated
  • Miscommunication
  • Intimacy: kissing, hand holding, snuggling, bed sharing
  • Post-canon fic
  • Friendship
  • Hurt/comfort, either emotional or physical
  • Happy, or at least hopeful, endings

Dislikes:
  • Non-con
  • Cheating
  • Dark fic
  • Excessive angst
  • Teacher/student dynamics in any form (high school, college, whatever. just...no)
  • Character bashing
  • Love triangles (unless they're already canon)
Fandom Specifics

1. The Hating Game - Sally Thorne
Characters: Josh Templeton, Lucy Hutton

Request:

I'd love to see the story from Josh's point of view. I'm a sucker for pining, so seeing Josh just being absolutely crazy about Lucy, dumping his girlfriend because he just couldn't get this girl out of his head, falling into this love/hate fuckbuddy relationship because he'll take any part of Lucy that he could get, would be amazing.

I'd also take a post-book story where we see their relationship after they've gotten together. What does it look like when they can finally be honest about their feelings? Does Lucy help Josh reconcile with his father? What do Lucy's parents do when they meet Josh for the first time, after hearing all of Lucy's bad stories about him?

This is a fandom where I'd also be open to AUs, Christmas/holiday stories, college AUs, etc.

Optional Prompts Are Optional:

Prompt 1:
The aforementioned idea of showing the story of the book from Josh's point of view. If you started even before the canon, when Josh first meets Lucy and is just punched in the face by how much he likes this girl, that'd be great.

Prompt 2:
A scene we didn't get to see between the two of them before they got their shit together. More pining and sex and repressing feelings that they think are unrequited. Basically, I'm in the mood for lots of pining this Yuletide, and the dynamic between these two is so great that I want to see it played out more.

Prompt 3:
Josh meets Lucy's parents and has to prove he's not the asshole she's made him out to be. What's it like when he finally goes to the strawberry farm that he's heard so much about?

2. It - Stephen King
Characters: Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak

Request:

Horror stories scare me, but I read this whole, insane book because I am a HUGE sucker for found family stories. And it kind of hits me right in the heart the idea that these people have had the families they've always needed, but they've completely forgotten them.

As for Richie and Eddie - feel free to change the ending as you see fit. Eddie's canonical demise was greatly exaggerated. It would be great to watch Richie slowly rediscover what Eddie meant to him, and realize that the reason he's been so unhappy in his fancy life is because he's been in love with this dumb kid, even if he can't remember it.

Feel free to bring any of the other Losers into it. And if you want to retell Stan's ending as well, I wouldn't be mad about it, but the focus should be on Richie and Eddie, which is why they're the only two characters listed.

I want so much pining, so much assumed unrequited love. This is a fandom where you can definitely lay it on thick, because all of the characters are already so messed up. If you could write a story where, somehow, Eddie sees how much his 'death' fucks up Richie before miraculously coming back to life, that would be great too. Richie kissing Eddie as he's leaving, etc.

I've also seen both movies and the 1990 mini-series, so I'm familiar and amenable to all extended canon.

DNW: Any kind of AU, except for ones where Eddie and/or Stan survive. I like these characters, but the part that calls to me is their shared trauma and the bond that they have with each other. Also DNW a sad/angsty ending. Make it as angsty as you want throughout! Messy crying is highly encouraged! Just make 'em happy at the end.

Optional Prompts Are Optional:

Prompt 1:
(gen) Group road trip or something where they all decide, after they've killed the clown, to actually enjoy themselves and get to know each other again. I'd even go for them deciding to play Truth or Dare like they were 12 years old again. I would just like all of the Losers sharing secrets and getting each other back. I will also take this with just Richie and Eddie, since they are the only characters I've listed in my request.

Prompt 2:
All of the memories and feelings don't immediately come back to Richie. It's a slow realization of exactly who Eddie was to him and how Richie feels about him. We get to see Richie's whole, fucked up life start to make sense as he understands what he's been missing all this time without Eddie (and all of the other Losers).

Prompt 3:
Post-canon, Eddie can survive or magically be brought back, and there's pining and crying and unrequited love as both Eddie and Richie try to deal with their clown-and-Derry-related issues.

3. The Kiss Quotient - Helen Hoang
Characters: Stella Lane, Michael Phan

Request:

I loved every. single. thing. about this book, but especially the lessons between Stella and Michael. I just want more of that. Like I'd take a whole second book's worth of Michael showing Stella how to do something sexual and just being endlessly charmed by her.

It would be great to see their lessons continue after they've gotten together, but obviously in a more playful and intimate manner. Michael proving to Stella how much he really does love her, how attracted to her he is, would be great.

I love Stella's point of view: her very analytical mind, how strongly she feels for Michael. I basically just want to see more of these two together, in any setting and in any way that I can get them.

Optional Prompts Are Optional:

Prompt 1:
Michael teaches Stella how to _____. Another teaching scene, please! The combination of how hot the whole thing is and how patient and smitten Michael clearly is with Stella the whole time makes me so happy. I have reread every one of those scenes a 100 times and I want 100 more of them.

Prompt 2:
Michael teaches Stella how to make love. After they finally get together by the end of the book, they have sex again, but it's not just sex this time. It's tender and sweet. Stella has never had this, and truthfully Michael hasn't really either, but he's desperate to try and give this to Stella to show her how he feels about her.

4. Much Ado About Nothing (2011)
Characters: Beatrice, Benedick, Don Pedro

Request:

I'm OBSESSED with this production - just, every single thing about it. I want so much fic about it that I honestly don't even know where to start.

So first of all, I'll take Benedick/Beatrice or Benedick/Beatrice/Don Pedro or gen. I'd love to see what the hell happened between Benedick and Beatrice that led them to this place where they are so antagonistic towards one another, but also still so obviously in love. I mean, it's pretty clear that Benedick messed up somewhere, but when? How? I'd also love to see them after the wedding, and how what their relationship looks like now that they are together.

As for Don Pedro - the poor Prince needs some love. I'm very into the idea of him being in love with both Benedick and Beatrice and being really depressed that his scheme has worked the way he knew it was. Then being confused when suddenly the happy couple seems to turn their interest towards him...Beatrice and Benedick putting their considerable charms into seducing Don Pedro and giving him back a bit of his own medicine would be fantastic.

I'll say again: pining. I desire so much pining and banter. You can feel free to do your best with the Shakespearean language or go full Rozencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead with it.

Optional Prompts Are Optional:

Prompt 1:
How did Beatrice and Benedick meet in the first place? What went wrong? What went right?

Prompt 2:
Beatrice and Benedick set about seducing a lovelorn Don Pedro. He's the only one not happy by the end of the play. We already know he wanted to marry Beatrice, and that Benedick is one of his closest friends. So maybe it's more than that. Maybe he's in love with both of them and kicking himself for getting them together. But he saw the way they were around each other and Beatrice had already rejected him, so he thought he might as well make the two of them happy, even if it was without him.

Prompt 3:
Beatrice and Benedick post-wedding. I want to see them verbally sparring with each other when they both totally know that they're going to have sex after.
