So I've decided to put my TV in storage. I don't want to, but I need to. Getting rid of it will help me be less distracted. Distraction will be the the death of me and all I'm trying to achieve, so I'm getting rid of the things that distract me most.

What are the thing I'm trying to achieve?

I'm fighting like hell to to well in school. I've never been a good student, so it hasn't been an easy road.

Also, trying to build my photography/design business (mostly photography right now). I'm going to a bridal show a week from today to hopefully get my name out there a little and try to get bookings for next year. In preparation for this, I've ordered some prints to frame and put on the table, as well as some new spiffy business cards (see below). In an effort to increase the likelihood of at least garnering a few bookings from this even, I'll be raffling off discounts to show attendees. The thinking behind this is that when it comes time for them to pick a photog for their wedding, they'll have a reason to remember me and to book me: a generous discount. Granted, people don't book just on economy, but to a lot of the people I've talked to thus far, money is still a big part of it. Combine the discount with decent photos, and I might just get a few bookings! While my first wedding didn't garner any of the artistic stuff I was hoping for, I recorded the event decently and don't feel I did a bad job.

New business card:

The cool thing about the place where I got these from, is that they allow you to order in small quantities, so if i want to change the picture on the back periodically, or to have different cards for different types of photography (wedding, commercial, models) it's not hard! What do you think of this design? Originally I planned to have a picture of a pier on the back, but as this card is supposed to be a sort of 'general' card, I didn't think the pier related to well to wedding clients.

I'm going to put some packages together for portraits and headshots. To "help a brotha' out", I'm going to offer discounts to students and see if I can get something in the ASB discount book at school.

Also, I joined a website called Model Mayhem. I've been thinking about joining for a while, and finally did. Basically, think of it as a MySpace geared towards those involved in the modeling community: Models, Photographers & Make-Up Artists. It's a site where you can search for and interact with others interested in what you're interested in, as well as find a model, MUA or photog for a project you want to do. The neat thing is that accounts have to go through a review to make sure you do what you say you do (model, take pictures, etc.) and that you're not a complete newb. This cuts out the spam factor, and also keeps the site at least a little more exclusive to those who are truly interested. Since I just started it, my account still has to be reviewed, but I'm not worried. In looking around, I saw other photogs on there with work that wasn't as good as mine, so yeah...

Well, that's all I have for now!
