It's been awhile since I've written. It's not for lack of material, I assure you. Much has happened. But the idea of trying to make sense of it all, to put some sort of categorical or chronological brand on the face of my life, is exhausting. Suffice it to say, I'm very, very happy.
In other news, I've recently undertaken the responsibility of a second job; specifically, playing nanny to my nephew. So for three nights and four days out of every week I will be the primary caregiver of a sweet little two year old boy. Sweet little ENERGETIC two year old boy. This is a good thing for at least two reasons: I will be able to pay Columbia College back faster and get into culinary school, and I'll be forced to regulate my sleeping habits at least somewhat. I can drink until 4AM and go to work at Chili's on two hours of sleep, but I can't do the same thing and be able to attend to the needs of a child at 8AM. I probably should say lack of sleeping habits, actually. Insomnia, my constant companion for the past seven years, has been ruthlessly intent on spending as much time as possible with me the last few weeks.
I think I need to make another culinary blog since I can't remember the password to the old one I had, nor to the email address I used at the time that the password would be sent to. I have a question about spices. Do any of you cook? If so, any ideas how I can use whole mustard seeds as well as whole caraway seeds? I've only used either one of them in their powdered forms and I'm stumped. I tried to use the mustard seeds last night with a boneless pork chop dish but I sort of ended up... uh... burning them. Yes, I admit it. I burned something.
Dear friends, I will try my best to update more regularly. I have no excuse for being so slack. Can't have me getting rusty.
