Hello everyone, this is Mia (
4ft10inonesock). I'll start by explaining why I am updating Meghan's journal for her since it is technically all my fault. You can thank me later, Meghan ;-D (Lol, kidding! Love ya, hun!)
Meghan has been in a lot of pain recently due to her little princess laying low in her pelvis, as is normal at the end of pregnancies. After talking to me about it earlier this week, I gave her some advice about starting labor as well as alleviating some of her pubic pressure. Unfortunately, she just hasn't wanted to come out or ease up on her Momma. So, yesterday I told her to speak with her midwife about stripping her membranes at her appointment today. She was a little bit nervous about having it done, but willing to try anything at this point to start her labor. I told her that while I never had it done personally (I had a c-section), I see it work very, very, well in OB all of the time with patients. Her and I were both skeptical about her midwife even doing it for her, because she is very "natural" and doesn't even do internal exam's unless absolutely necessary. Well, much to my surprise, I just was alerted by Meghan that her midwife did in fact agree to it! But that's not it...
While she was performing the procedure, the midwife broke her water on accident (They move their fingers right under your amniotic sac to allow stripping of the membranes. They just don't normally find it easy to have your water break. Lucky girl!). That's right, she is on her way to the hospital to have our little sweet girl! Her midwife said she probably will not give birth until tomorrow since it is her first birth(and I agree), but I will let everyone know the minute she brings Paige Jordan into this world and each time I am updated. I am going to call Craig in a couple of hours to find out where she is at in her progression, and I will keep everyone updated until she has her.
I do have to give a little tiny bit of bad news, as well. There was slight meconium in the amniotic fluid, but no worries. That's not a reason to be concerned. We deal with it all the time, and is not at all hard to take care of. We just make sure there isn't any in her mouth or lungs when she comes out, check her respiration quickly, and will give her back to Mom. Easy stuff.
We are all very excited for Meghan and Craig and I love you, Meghan! If anyone has anything they want me to relay to Meghan when I talk to her (or Craig if she is not a happy camper in her labor), go ahead and leave a comment, and I promise I will tell her.
EDIT at 10:29pm EST : I just talked to Craig and he says Meghan is sleeping, so lol, that lucky woman has either gotten an epidural, some heavy drugs, or hasn't started contracting strongly, yet. Anyhow, Craig says she is still expected to deliver tomorrow based on her progress. He is supposed to call me (or have her call me depending on if she feels well enough) when she has the very anticipated little Miss Paige Jordan makes her entrance :-D
