Sam wakes alone, and it takes a good minute before he can push the panic down enough to function.
He drives fast and, thank God, finds Dean at the first place he stops, a grocery store that opens in five minutes. Dean is leaning against the glass door, staring at a man who’s facing the opposite direction, restocking paper towels.
Dean’s drooling.
“Hungry,” he rasps.
Sam swallows. “I know. Just … wait in the car.”
Dean does, and when the store opens, Sam buys fives pounds of raw meat.
It’s not what Dean really wants, but it’ll have to do.
