Summary: Sammy walks into the classroom without looking back. Dean can do nothing else. It’s Sammy’s first day of kindergarten. Drabble.

Sammy walks into the classroom without looking back. Dean can do nothing else.
He remembers giving Sammy his first Cheerios, and how they both had sticky fingers afterward; helping Sammy take wobbly steps around the living room, making sure to detour around the coffee table’s sharp corners; showing Sammy how to fly a kite without running it into the crabby old neighbor’s tree.
He remembers his own first day of kindergarten, and how Sammy cried so hard he got the hiccups.
It seems like yesterday.
It seems like forever ago.
Sammy’s classroom door closes, and Dean reminds himself to breathe.
