What an eventful weekend! This is gunna be long, but maybe you'll still read it anyway...
Started off pretty crappy, classes from 9-1 on Friday which I did not enjoy, paper conference with my writing professor during which I realized that I can't write worth a crap, then onto finishing physics homework that I couldn't figure out, finally concluding with a delightful c++ midterm. If I ever have to write another member function prototype or initialize any float variables after this class, I will absolutely lose my mind. So after getting home at around 6:30, I decided that it was probably for the best if I cut myself off from the world for a few hours, seeing as I was about ready to flip out on the next person who talked to me. The nap helped, as did all the happy messages from my best friends. I especially loved Katie's "I am wearing pants and a top from Hollister right now.. I thought it might cheer you up that I went shopping at a namebrand store!" Oh, and it did, my lovely Katherine. Woke up around 11, even though I kinda wanted to sleep right through the night. Read a little, drank some tea, watched a movie, and felt tons better.
Saturday was awesome. Went to work from 9:45 - 5, but I had so much fun. The boys are all so crazy and hilarious. After work, Megan and I went to the Copeland concert... Which freaking ROCKED. As Tall As Lions, Lovedrug, and Acceptance were the openers, and I hadn't really heard many songs from any of them before that night. As Tall As Lions were pretty good, a little too hardcore and loud for me. Lovedrug came on next, and they were amazing... I have to go to Newbury Comics and find their cd. If you get a chance, download "Pretend You're Alive," I love it. Acceptance was pretty good as well, they had a few transportation problems or whatever, so half the band wasn't there. But the songs still rocked. And Copeland... wow. So good. I didn't think they were going to be as great live as they were. After the concert, Megan and I got some food and headed back to the house. I'm so glad Megan had fun, I know some of my music isn't really her style, but we both like venturing out of our comfort zone and experiencing something completely different than we're used to. We're going to have so much fun living together next year!
Sunday started off early, as I agreed to help out two guys from work and take their shifts, which meant waking up to be at work by 7. But hey, at least I got an early start to the day, paid time and a half for cleaning and standing around for a few hours, and now have two boys owing me big time. I've never been at Best Buy for opening, and it was quite an experience... There's absolutely no one in the store, with the exception of the merch guys milling about the warehouse. And I enjoy cleaning anyway (thanks for the OCD genes, mother). So it was rather relaxing. And at 10:30, when a few more people had showed up, the intercom pages all associates to the front for the "morning meeting". I have absolutely no clue what's going on... But about 20 employees were standing around in a circle in the front of the store. Another guy in appliances who usually closes the same days I do, but also covering someone's shift, was looking around just as befuddled as I was. And then the manager was like "okay, what game should we play" and I'm standing there like... are you kidding me, I have to play a game at 10:30 in the morning? We ended up playing a game called Shipwreck...It was so weird... The manager called out different phrases.. like "swab the deck" and "man overboard" and we'd have to get the number of people needed for each action as quickly as possible. And the slowest or person without a group was called out. Katie from wireless and I teamed up, it was hilarious... All the managers and employees were running around, it was all too funny. It kind of reminded me of something we would do at a Fil-A team thing. It made me realize how much I enjoy everyone I work with here in Boston, how much I like my job. I've been pretty lucky to work in two places I absolutely love working at. By the way, I hit my 3 year mark for Chick-Fil-A in March... Yes, I've kept track, don't make fun. It's going to rock to go back for the summer, hopefully I won't have forgotten how to make anything! Anyway... Back to Sunday... After work, Megan and I had brunch, which was delightful as usual. Later Sunday night... STRAYLIGHT RUN concert! Becca and I had SO much fun. Spitalfield ROCKED, it's crazy thinking about the first time I heard the cd all the way through... During the beginning of the insane summer, at Red Cross camp. I would go into detail about things I thought about, but honestly, it's not important to anyone but me anymore. Anyway, The Honorary Title was up next, they were a band I've never heard of, but really liked. The drummer... *sigh* oh, the drummer... He was SO cute. Wore a suit and tie, scruffy... oh boy. Becca and I definitely walked by him about 8 times after the show. I'm totally in love with him. Gratitude was next... I don't know, I didn't really care for them. A little too loud and angry for me. Minus The Bear came after, they were awesome!!! I had only heard a few songs before the concert, and they blew me away. Finally... Straylight Run. I can't even express how incredible they were. They played some new songs, which were much different than their cd, but really good. PS if you've heard of more than two of these bands, you are my new best friend.
Ridiculously awesome weekend, and I haven't had one of those for a good long while. Ah, and now the death can resume! iloveit.
