[The feed turns on and shows Dad with a bag on his arm, walking in the plaza.]Good afternoon everyone! I was wondering if there was a store that sold baking supplies in Vatheon. I haven't made any pastries in a while and I thought that it would be a good idea to start my new life here by baking some delicious cookies and whatnot for everyone. I ( Read more... )

I would suggest taking a gander around the Plaza. They've quite the selection of shopping centers to choose from, and I'm sure you would likely find what you need.

As for cookies, I would not mind a few if you would not mind saving me some. I would be willing to assist in their baking as well, if you'd like.

I'm a little surprised to find so many people here who enjoy cooking, young and old. I thought it had simply gone out of fashion.

Honestly, I've done very little of it myself. Though the idea certainly isn't an unpleasant one, and I'm sure I would find the activity enjoyable enough.

It's really not difficult to learn, especially with a side-by-side lesson to get going. It's a very satisfying skill to possess, I've found.

Oh yes? Lately I've been fond of the idea of learning, though haven't really known where to start on my own. I've glanced at cook books and the cooking ware we have at the house, but haven't quite tried doing anything yet.

Cookbooks are excellent sources of recipes, but I find them less than satisfactory when it comes to the teaching process, much like any of the arts.

If you're that interested, I'd be more than happy to teach you some basic dishes.

Yes, I found the same fact out soon after perusing their pages. And I would enjoy that greatly, but wouldn't want to be of any bother.

Not at all! An eager student is all a teacher of any age or trade could ask for.

I'm Shin Mouri.

Well I can assure you that an eager student is indeed what you have on your hands.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Mouri. My name is Rose Lalonde.

Please, Shin is fine, Rose. I'm not much older than you, I believe.

I've taken up residence at Larmline Apartments if you'd care to come by in your spare time. I can meet you in the lobby and escort you up.

While that may be, it's still improper to refer to a teacher otherwise. However, if Shin is preferable, I'm certainly not adverse to calling you such.

As for spare time, that is really all I have here. Would I need to bring any supplies of my own?

Mr. Shin if you must, but I'll not be offended if you call me Mr. Mouri. I suppose I should get used to being called that again.

So long as you wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty, and... yes, your hair should be fine like that, and... hmm, I suppose the only other question is then what two or three things you'd like to start learning. I can make suggestions if you like.

Mr. Shin sounds positively charming. I believe I will go with that.

I've quite a few sets of garments that fall into that category, and am pleased to hear my hair is fine the way it is. Though I wouldn't be opposed to doing my best to put it back further if needed.

As for what I'd enjoy learning...I'm not sure. I wouldn't want to choose something too difficult for me, so perhaps your suggestions would be best. Or dishes you know best. And then we can simply branch out from there?

If we were preparing food on behalf of others, I would certainly insist we both cover our heads. However, for this effort, as is will do.

At least to me, you appear to be a Westerner, and so I believe bread of a sort would be my first suggestion. After that, perhaps a lesson in preparing various meats in different ways - simple at first, with provisions for creative exploration. Lastly, perhaps a simple fruit tart dessert. It will make pies easier to explain, should you enjoy the lesson enough to desire continuing it.

Alright then.

I'm fairly certain I am indeed just that, if you are referring to where in the world I reside. As to the suggestions, those sound wonderful to me. Are these able to be taught in one sitting, or would it require multiple visits? Not that I would mind the latter, of course, I am simply curious. And would tomorrow be a suitable day to stop by?

Bread can be prepared in an oven, meats on a stovetop, and the fruit tarts... hmm, actually those will have to bookend the lesson, but all the same... Yes, we can do those three within a few hours of dedicated learning. That was my intent with suggesting them, after all. More complex things would need those same hours devoted solely to them.

Tomorrow will be dandy. Contact me using this device and I will greet you in the lobby.
