It's been a pretty long time since the last post! And during this pretty long time, Juno has hit several growth spurts, so it's even longer in my memory.
What's new:
Juno is CRUISING. All over the place. Non-stop crawling over to the nearest corner, crevice, or fuck it a wall, and standing herself up and wobbling over to the nearest screen. Eventually, she'll either fall or realize she can't get down, so she starts crying or whining. We have to pretty much constantly watch her now, which makes parental duty a lot more exhausting than it used to be. Lynne, by the way, is teaching Juno to sit down to make life easier for her, and herself, and me.
She LOVES Toby's food and water bowls. After screens, she'll basically pick those over everything else, in a crawl-sprint, and would probably choke on her food if we adults didn't sweep her up in horror and disgust.
She eats EVERYTHING: fish, chicken, tofu, pork, egg, beans. Actually, mostly she wants to eat meat and protein, but will settle for whatever's in front of her when protein isn't on the menu.
I swear to god she said "hái yào" a couple times. Lynne was present one of those times, and would testify too. She has also said things reminiscent of "yào" and "yeah" and "done" that I can't be sure is anything other than her usual babble. But I like to give her to benefit of the doubt.
Her object permanence has extended. It's funny to think of object permanence as a gradient, but it clearly is. Starting a little over a month ago, she could drop an object she was holding and without looking find it with her hand and pick it up. What a monumental feat! Six months ago she didn't even know something existed when it was hidden behind something else. Now, she understands that it not only exists, but applies the laws of physics to the object and can predict exactly where it lands and rolls to grab it without further sensory input! No adult has made such enormous intellectual achievements as any infant in their first year.
Relatedly, she doesn't worry as much when we go into a different room. A month ago, she would start crying when we left; now, she knows we're nearby and so she continues to explore and play on her own, undisturbed.
Oh, and her sleep patterns have really suffered. She's going through a hellish sleep regression where she stands up in protest when we put her to bed, so it takes way, way longer for her to fall asleep than before. And, on a couple occasions, she's woken up in the middle of the night and cried for what felt like hours, much to our dismay and sleep deprivation.
Anyway, that's the main stuff. Going to sleep now, bye!
