Monday may never be the same for me.

MONDAY! Most people hate Mondays and I'm usually not an exception to that rule. Today was a little different, it started rough. I got a new computer at work over the weekend, with no admin rights. Now the geekier of you will understand how frustrating that can be. Desk top services either lost, hid or deleted most of my files that I had backed up to the LAN drive. Now you have to realize one mans trash is another mans treasure. They lost my excel formula files. That's right my cheat sheets. I have a habit of when I find a formula that works for something I do, I put it on note pad and name the file according to what the formula does. I know that is silly but for me it works better than trying to memorize a hundred or so formulas, then trying to remember what they do. Excel users know these formulas look like algebra gone wrong, and that may be my aversion to them. I don't like math in the first place and I like it less when there are no numbers involved. Anyhow, desktop services ran a mass delete for .txt files and didn't read the titles. This was how my Monday started, then to find the report time was being moved up by an hour. My sly new boss grabbed my smokes and took me outside before telling me what he needed. See he knew what they did, they had done it to him the week before. He let me work on it for a while before he tells me oh yeah he backed up the formulas to his new LAN folder and he could send them to me. You have to love a boss that is smart enough to swipe your formulas so he can do your work if he has to, or for that matter do his own work if he has to. So it's time to turn in the reports, and I am only 3 min late. Yippee!! I get to work on accounts now. Wait, where did they put my links to the programs I use. You got it they are all intranet web based, they will only run in Internet Explorer, and IE is only letting me open one page at a time, and I can't find the frigging setting that will open a links in a new window. Yes I know it's under tools then internet options, but WHERE? It doesn't look the same. I still haven't found it. So I limp and struggle through my account work just in time to go to a 4 O'clock meeting where we are told about this new group is being headed up, and guess what! We are the chosen few who will be sending the work for them. So now I have becime a filter of sorts. I think at this point I am actually happy, it means some of the things that I have been griping about are going to at least appear to be getting fixed. I'm treating this as a poractive opportunity to have more input into the resolution of ongoing problems. Oh my gosh did that sentence just come out of me? Tomorrow is Tuesday, hopefully by then I will have found that IE setting and the flames will have stopped shooting out of my ears. Having said all that it was actually a good Monday! The enemies said nice things about me, my boss is smarter than I thought he was and he understands the need to go blow some smoke on days like today.
