There's a mix this month, of Avengers recs, like usual, and a section of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. recs (the television series, NOT the movie). With the exception of a delightful fic that straddles both fandoms (to be found grouped with the UNCLE fics), you can easily find the fandom you're interested in by scrolling until you find it. I don't anticipate that amount of UNCLE fics being a regular thing in my recs post - for one thing, it's a tiny fandom with a closed canon, and I'm still very much a Marvel fan - but you might get a handful now and again.

NonymosAfter Bucky was released from the hospital, it only took him a couple of weeks to give up on himself. Difficult to believe in any kind of future when the simple act of staying alive was almost too big an effort.
Out the frosted window, across the street, there was a tiny homeless guy burrowing under an awning.
Rec Of The Week -
The Tower by
sarahluciellePeggy Carter recruits Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes to fight against Baron Zemo, a man who desires the powers of the entity that has taken a liking to Steve Rogers. The Howling Commandos search Europe for artifacts with the mission to retrieve them before Zemo's Secret Empire can, but the Baron is ruthless and patient, willing to play the long game.
As the world explodes into a war seeped in occult forces and lead by madmen, Bucky has to admit for his own peace of mind that he's always loved Steve Rogers and would follow him into any kind of war, no matter how strange.
Horror AU set in World War II.
My partner recced this to me months and months ago, but when I went to read it, the author had deleted it. Fortunately, they have reposted it, and I got to delve into an AU unlike any other I've read in Marvel. Its utter uniqueness is what stuck both my partner and I. I can't think of anything to compare it to at all that I've seen. It is its own creature - a lush, dark AU which takes the characters and places them in a world that is both alike to canon and completely, devastatingly different. If you like supernatural AUs and dark fantasy that deals with death and resurrection like Garth Nix's Abhorsen series, then chances are you'll like what sarahlucielle has created with The Tower. And best of all, she's reposted it as the potential first of a series, so there may be further adventures in this verse to come.

The God of Badass Secret Agents by
TardisIsTheOnlyWayToTravelIt started off as Sitwell’s idea of a joke.
This story is an absolute joy and a wonder. If you love magical realism and the humour of Coulson's Marvel One-Shots, you'll love this. It's not compliant with Agents of SHIELD, but trust me when I say that that doesn't matter one bit. If the author does write more stories in this verse, I'll eat them up.
Don't Forget The Light by
stellahiberniusThis time neither one of them is running, neither one of them is chasing.
“You need to stop.” Bucky’s voice is rough, even, not betraying a single emotion
Steve tries to match, doesn’t manage it very well. He sounds shaky even to his own ears. “What do you mean?”
“Stop following me.”

The Kissing Bandit by
Blondie54xThis is an AU story in which Illya Kuryakin is, as he was fated to be, Number 2, section 2 in the U.N.C.L.E., New York, but Napoleon Solo - who took a left turn instead of a right at the crossroads of his life - chose an altogether different path. Oblivious to each other’s existence, events (or should I say destiny) are about to bring them together.
The Cold War Collar Affairs by
tdancinghandsAlpha Top Napoleon Solo, the new CEA at UNCLE, is surprised when he is asked to take a sub on a mission with him. Subs weren't generally considered suitable for field work, but Illya Kuryakin's science acumen was considered vital for the mission, and Waverly insisted that the Russian agent's field skills were more than sufficient to the task.
Kuryakin more than proves himself on the mission, and Napoleon finds himself intrigued by the man. He's not the sort of sub he'd generally take to bed, and Kuryakin is a Soviet State asset, and unavailable anyhow. Still, it seems to Napoleon that there's more to the stoic and talented Russian than he lets on. Illya Kuryakin has his secrets, and Napoleon just can't leave well enough alone. Getting the Russian's secrets from him will come with a price, however, for Napoleon has his own secrets -ones that he's keeping from himself, and those are the most dangerous secrets of all.

Alex51324"There is something you should know before making a final decision.”
“I’m already aware he’s Russian, sir,” Napoleon said. “And he’s still on good terms with them, so he must at least technically be a Communist.”
Waverly brushed that aside. “All of the Russian agents are. Kuryakin, however, is also an admitted homosexual.”
(An original-recipe Man from U.N.C.L.E. fic.)
This is the top-kudosed fic in the UNCLE TV fandom, and with very good reason. Alex is a fantastic writer who I've been reading and loving since my Torchwood fandom days, and they've deftly crafted a beautiful, slow-developing tale of trust and mistrust, blossoming friendship and attraction, period typical attitudes and homophobia and love. Napoleon and Illya are characterised with vivid and true skill, and you'll finish the tale with the only disappointment being that you can't keep reading.
