Movie reviews: Navy Seals

Nov 11, 2012 13:53

Michael Biehn, Charlie Sheen, and Bill Paxton star as three members of the Navy Seals, America's best naval commandos. The seals are sent to rescue the crew of a U.S. aircraft that are held hostage by Middle Eastern terrorists. What's to make it worse is that the terrorists have stolen an arsenal of Stinger missiles. Much explodey fun ensues.

This was a pretty enjoyable action movie. Much explodey fun was had throughout. Even Charlie Sheen was good. he wasn't a total dick this time. He still played the usual hot-headed guy that he always plays. Michael Biehn was the one to have the disposable love interest. She was a news reporter played by Joanne Whalley-Kilmer. She was supposed to be half-Lebanese so we don't totally hate her but I'm not entirely sure what she brought to the plot. After getting into bed with Biehn's character, she's pretty much forgotten for the rest of the movie.

The soundtrack was suitably cheesy. It's quite similar to the soundtrack from The Delta Force, another movie about an elite force fighting terrorists.

Three and a half pointy hats.

Next time: North by Northwest. Yay, Hitchcock!
