Anyone who doesn't at a glance know what the Pit is can pretty well (in fact, entirely) ignore this post.
I've been wondering for a while if the folks who run the SDMB are seeing what creative attempts they can make to kill it, then just barely narrowly avoid having to administer last rites, and then go through the whole process again and see if they can get a few minutes closer to having the place baseline.
Pay-to-post (i.e., you give us money and then generate content for us, which we can use for whatever without paying you) went over like a lead balloon in thin atmosphere.
P2P with ads was even less popular.
Then they took away payment requirement and things seemed to pick up again.
And now you can't type "Fuck Ed Zotti and the school of mismanagement he went to" anywhere on the board.
I am sure this will do no harm to the various people who don't use the Pit as a free therapist.
But this is like having a car in which you can't exceed the speed limit. Yeah, it's bad for the car's mileage if you take it over 65 or whatever, and yeah, it's unsafe, and all of that, but damnit, it's your car, not the dealer's.
I was going to ask (only not him) if Ed realized how this would go over.
I was going to ask if they honestly could not find moderators who could handle being called asshats. (Honestly, after five+ years of working with the word, it's pretty ineffective as an insult.)
Instead, I'm wondering how many of y'all will be over at domebo. I can't promise more than sporadic activity, but I'll enjoy seeing people get fed up with Ed.
