Last night I let Skyline out at around 1 AM before we went to bed, and he would not come back in -- it was weird. He's always happy to come back inside because we always give him a milkbone when he gets in his crate for the night and somehow one mouthful of milkbone is worth sitting in a crate allll night. He was running around the yard like crazy and then started barking like crazy! Which he only really does to the UPS man or squirrels, both of which are diurnal...
So anyway, when I finally got some shoes and went out in the yard, he was staring down a hissing possum. Haha, I'd expect such things if we lived in Virginia, but here our yard is about a quarter of the size of a normal yard and surrounded by a privacy fence with really no way for things to get in. Plus it's super suburban. The only animals we get in the yard are squirrels, birds, geckos, and toads so far. All of which skyline tries to eat. Anyway, it was kinda cool. Kinda scary though, I was really worried it had bitten him or something... although after checking him out and seeing his tail wagging nonstop and his goofy "I-reallyl-wanted-to-eat-that-possum" puppy-grin, I guess he was ok.
But I had just spent the last few hours finishing Cujo, so I was a little paranoid. :)
Tried to take a picture of the possum. It was sooooo mad at us, even when we came back out into the yard without pups. But it was too dark, and I didn't really want to go right up into its face with a camera.
Oh, and in unrelated news: we are finally all set up for Christmas! We bought our tree last week. This is the first year we're actually going to be in town for almost all of the season (leaving for our cruise for 6 days, instead of 16 days for crazy cross-country family-visiting), so we got the biggest tree we could find at home depot -- 9 feet! :) It sat there sad and undecorated for 3 or 4 days because we've been super busy, but it's finally decorated, and we did the outside lights yesterday. They look good! And we had to get up on the roof to do them right, which was really fun and kinda scary but awesome. Also a good workout. Always nice to get a good workout doing something you were going to do anyway, because we have a hard time remembering to go running or to the weight room on weekends.
