I was sent, rather bubble-burstingly, a copy of The Uncollected Salinger, and for a few minutes I felt defeated. I'd acknowledged that it had probably been done, but, you know, I just hoped I wouldn't see it. Especially since I'm so close to finishing my own version (see below). However, upon reviewing that massive file, I found several errors, inconsistencies, and even glaring omissions - a few of the stories were left bewilderingly incomplete. How could that editor have even thought that "Both Parties Concerned" was supposed to end where he has it ending in his file? And so, I'll keep working. I plan now to add to my foreward chapter a brief paragraph illuminating the ways in which my uncollected Salinger corrects or improves upon that one. If there is an even more superior version than the one I was sent, well, send it to me, I guess, but I'll keep working on mine until I find one in which everything's really been done.
So, I still have work to do.
