Another day down

Aug 08, 2007 23:00

As I write this, Pramas is ensconced in a British Airways jet and halfway to England, where I hope friend and stranger alike will take good care of him. He's gone until Monday night. I leave for GenCon on the red-eye flight Tuesday and he'll follow a day later.

What does Nikchick do when she's all alone on a weeknight?

Heh. I was thinking of something similar. My wife's at a conference this week so today, I rolled with my 4 year old in his fancy German trike. I bought it for him so it was some kind of vicarious ostentatious display.

Then I made burgers and ordered some books for a convention.

But y'know? Every time I try to do something exciting I get a hangover or sprain something. When I went to Gen Con in 2003 I got a hangover, got infections in both feet and argued with my ex at the time (who I saw again, who became my ex again). Oh yeah -- I also owed WW money from an overpayment so I spent about half my time trying to track down somebody who would sign for it.

I like being a boring homebody a lot more, I think.

I picked up Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the 80s over the weekend and beat it on Medium last night. It has a lot of fun songs on it, though I'm a bit put off by the full price they slapped on what is essentially just a content pack (and only 30 songs instead of the 50 included in the other games). Regardless, I enjoyed playing it and look forward to trying to "gold star" some of the songs. [Track List]

I still need to replay GH2, though, since I lost all my saved games when I gave Stone the PS2 memory card along with the console to take to his Mom's. I want to play Misirlou, but it's not unlocked!

I'm desperate to master Psychobilly Freakout. My left wrist is sore this morning from too much playing last night, though.

Clearly I need to get this Guitar Hero game you all speak of ...

Anyway, my original point was that there's nothing wrong with Animal Planet reruns, as seeing the rehabilitation triumph of neglected and abused doggies and kitties from 2002 is not a whole lot different as ones from 2007. It's when you start saying to yourself, "Oh, I remember this one" as the episode begins that you should really consider other viewing choices. Like the Food Channel. Or a baseball game :-)

We took care of Pramas as best we could. We took him to a fort (Fort Nelson in Portsmouth), fed him a decent meal, talked his ears off*, sent him to bed, fed him some yummy sausage rolls for breakfast, and dropped him off to catch the train to Cambridge.

*Boy howdy...can my daughter talk up a storm! Poor Chris!

I think he had a good time. We certainly did. We want you all to visit next time! Please please please!!!
