Alright, so it's been a REALLY long time since I last updated. I've just been so damn busy! Anyway, here goes...
School is definitely in full swing. This week I have two midterms and multiple assignments, including a moderately long paper. Tonight I am pulling my first all-nighter of the semester! Yay! I really don't mind, because learning is fun. Wait... sleep is fun, too. Anyway, my first exam is in Islamic Gardens and Architecture... it involves a lot of reading and knowing terms/monuments. The class is a bit boring at times, but while studying for the midterm I've realized that it's actually quite interesting. Early muslim rulers built really pretty things! The second midterm is in math/stat 309. I really like this class. The professor is great and the material is challenging and interesting. yay stats! (i'm beginning to consider going to grad school in stats... that would be much fun).
Other classes include math 371, which is pretty tough, but not all that interesting. It's all about survival and life tables... you know, actuarial stuff. The fact that I like straight stats classes WAY better than this might indicate a mistake in my academic planning. Oh well, I just want to graduate and move on to something better. (Am I overly-optimistic?); engl 373, the U.S. Independent Film. I love the professor. I love independent films. I love studying about film. However, I don't like writing research papers, which is all the class is. boo. but it's a good class anyway; finance 254... i hate this class. I never go, but I still have a B. Of course, I could easily have an A if I cared, but I don't give a shit about the class because it sucks... don't ever take it... be warned.
So that's what's up on the academic scene... oh yeah, I'll also be taking the course one actuarial exam in early November. I'm super scared. I really need to pass this thing, but I'm starting to feel like that might not happen. I don't even have a study guide yet... *gulp*
Work has changed a lot since school started. Our general manager left and was replaced by this total ass-hole named Don. Nobody likes him, because he's a tyrant. Everything has to be just so, and he has given us no time to adjust to all the things he's changed (or fucked up) since he's been there. Generally, I don't like it there anymore. Even though the people are still cool, the management has forced me to seek employment elsewhere. I applied to a couple places, but nobody seems to be hiring.... I may be stuck with Applebee's for a while. At least the money is decent, and I can make myself put up with Don. Why can't I just find a good, well-paying job on campus? Oh yeah, I can't program.... fucking computer geeks...
In much more pleasant news, I'm going to London in January!!! I'm totally excited. I've already begun saving up a good deal of money for the trip, and the plane ticket is already purchased ($350 for roundtrip chicago-london!!!! so cheap!) I'll be going with a group of six gay men. how fabulous it will be. If anyone has been to London and wants to give advice on where to go/what to do, feel free to comment. I'll be in the city for 7 days.
Well, I suppose my break from studying should be over now. I've updated my profile and eaten half of my pint of apple-cinnamon sorbet. Time to get going. Will update soon... I promise!!
