Finally, something exciting!
I got a new (used) car today.
Gran's tenant/friend Al decided to sell his car after getting a $400 red light camera ticket. I guess he decided driving wasn't worth the cost. So Gran thought it would be nice for me to have a vehicle that can actually carry all four members of my family, and offered to pay half the cost and finance me the rest. Mom gave me an early anniversary gift and paid part of that, too. By the time I sell my truck, I may cover the whole cost, plus the tag and taxes!
I am now the proud owner of a '96 Infiniti J30. Yes, it's old, but at 185,000 miles, it's got the same miles as my truck and it seems to be in better shape. The gas mileage will be a minor improvement, I think (from 15 mpg to about 18 or 19). But most importantly, it's got a proper backseat!
In other news, I've had a bumper crop of tomatoes in my garden this year, and Max has a nice crop of hot peppers coming in. So of course, salsa! I created a new recipe - yellow tomato and Key lime salsa. It was delicious! This has revitalized my interest in writing a Floridian vegan cookbook. I've started an outline.
I'm very proud that I've managed to keep my Tumblr photo-a-day project going to two straight weeks. The trick is that it lets you queue posts, so if I know I'm going to have a busy time, I can add them in advance. I'm a week ahead right now because the next few days should be busy. Tomorrow, I have to cover for my boss, Wednesday and Thursday I'm in Orlando, Friday I have to try to get the car registered... It's going to be jam-packed!
