more florence news
so today i went to the top of the duomo. it really is a fantastic view. i also saw the two big museums in florence: the galleria della academia, which has michelangelo's david and some of his other statues, and the galleria dell ufizi, which has more renaissance art by botticelli and da vinci, among others. i'm not sure if i spelled those correctly.
i also walked across the ponte vecchio. it's this medieval bridge that was the only old bridge in florence that was not destroyed in world war II. it has lots of fancy shops on it, and there's a second story above all the shops. this second story was used as a corridor by the powerful medici family during the renaissance. they could basically walk above everyone else.
