Revisiting The Ghost Town Conversation

At LiveJournal's peak, the site had more than 14 million accounts. I grabbed that statistic from Wiki if you're wondering where that number came from.

When I created this new account, I paid close attention to my movement on the "Rating Position" found on my profile. Initially, I was moving upwards at a rate of hundreds per day. Which told me these were not active users on the site. At what point would the rapid growth slow? I'm on Day 3 of being in the 600s. Is it safe to assume that there approximately 700 active users who post and comment regularly? Naturally, more active accounts, but I'm talking about day-to-day usage. I think that's a fair assumption.

I searched high and low for a decent music community. I never found one that I liked and was active. I reached out to every maintainer on one that I used to use which had a user base of 32,000. I received a reply and was added as a maintainer to the community and posted an entry with hopes of finding signs of life. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

This site that we all love is in far worse shape than I initially imagined. Finding an engaged group of users that I enjoy interacting with is really all that I need, so thanks again!
