now here's how a normal day should go...

i woke up this morning with that catchy new franz ferdinand single stuck in my head. so, seeing as how their new album hit the racks this morning, i picked up a copy on the way to work. now until a few days ago i've never really been much of a fan. take me out was a pretty good tune and i did have a copy of their first album, but i never listened to it much and i never even really thought of seeing them live.

well today as i'm flipping through the paper on my break, i realised that the band would be playing the orpheum tonight. so on a whim, i found someone at work that wanted to go and we drove downtown at about 9:00 when the show had already started. apparently the show was sold out, but that didn't matter because we were looking for a scalper.

(this is where the moral of the story comes in)

once we got to the door, a hefty middle aged black man with a seating chart of the theatre approached us about selling tickets. we asked him what he had and he offered us two row 3 tickets for face value, which was about 60 bucks. we didn't quite want to spend that much however, so we told him we were looking for something in the $40 range. he offered us the row 3 tickets for $50 each.

now i'm sure some or possibly most of you know that you can get cheap tickets from scalpers after shows have started. for those that don't, now you do. because it's oh so much fun to laugh at the stupid motherfuckers who bought their tickets the minute they went on sale, only to pay more money for shittier seats.
