december 14th: the greatest day in the world

so, last night, my cousin matty had his Eagle Court, and was made an Eagle Scout. i never really knew anyone who was big into scouting, so i was a bit surprised by all the pagentry and the officialness of it all. 13 of the first 16 astronauts were eagle scouts! some state representative showed up with some sort of acknowledgement certificate thing which she read to him. my favorite part might have been when his little brother, also a scout, had to light each of these 12 candles one at a time when what they signified was mentioned in the program, he had the darnest time with that lighter! then all these scouts went to the front and took turns reading what matty had to do to earn each of his different scouting levels, its a lot of hard work to become an eagle scout. there was a whole listing of matty's accomplishments in the program thing too, the only oversight being how they forgot to start with the fact that december 14th is the greatest day in the world.
