Tonks has tried her best to keep busy. She finds it easier to deal with certain problems by keeping busy and not actually dealing with them at all. Granted, she did cry. She spent an evening alone with a kettle of tea and a box of tissues; however, she found the evening to be completely useless. She's spent every night since then researching ( Read more... )

Lilith is bored. She's been slacking on her meddling and now she's left her house in search of some poor soul she can corrupt. It's quite by accident that she happens upon the strange little bookstore, but since she finds the sense of magic inside rather amusing, she goes in and looks around.

She's immediately struck by some extremely strong emotions coming from someone browsing the books - a young woman. Chuckling to herself, she approaches her. The emotional ones are so easy.

"Finding what you're looking for?" she asks softly.

She jumps, nearly dropping the book. After years of auror training, she really shouldn't be so jumpy... she finds that rather irksome. Still, she looks at the woman and offers a half-smile.

"Well, not really. I'm not even sure if there's a spell for what I'm looking for," she replies.

"And what would that be?" Lilith smiles. "Perhaps I can help."

"I'd like a spell to change my feelings... um, my feelings toward someone. I don't want a love spell or anything; I just don't want to hurt him anymore. Or... feel anymore pain," she says; as she explains, her hair turns from pale blue to a darker hue.

The change in hair color amuses Lilith and her smile widens a little.

"I see," she nods. "Is this an ex lover or someone you're infatuated with? It makes a difference."

She doesn't like the term infatuated much; it sounds too obsessive for her tastes. "Someone I love who... doesn't return the sentiment. He's with someone else, and he's happy. I... I don't want to make a mess of things. But, I don't want to feel sad or hurt or... anything."

"Ah, I see." Lilith looks thoughtful as she studies the young woman. "What is your name, dear? I'm Lilith."

"Tonks," she replies simply, "nice to meet you."

"Likewise," Lilith nods. "Now, I think I might be able to help you with this problem of yours. I know that there's nothing worse than loving someone and not being loved in return." She lowers her voice. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather try to change his feelings?"

"You can help me?" she asks, pondering the possibilities. She entertains the thought of Remus returning her feelings, but... she wonders if that would only make her more unhappy. He would never really love her; he would just think he did. No, no, she certainly couldn't handle that. Besides, he's happy, whether she likes it or not. "No, I don't want to change his feelings. I just... I really want the pain to go away. I don't want to cry over him anymore," she says.

"I don't think that should be a problem," Lilith smiles at her. "I've known the pain of heartbreak caused by unrequited love. I don't think there's anything wrong with seeking a little help for that. Now, tell me, do you have anything in mind as to what you want to do? Or are you completely lost for a place to start?"

"Absolutely lost," she admits with a sigh. "I just want to make the pain go away."

"You poor dear," Lilith whispers. "Well, you have two choices. I can take it away for you, or I can introduce you to some things you'll never find in these books. This way, you can learn for yourself."

There's a dark flash in her eyes as she speaks, but it quickly disappears when she smiles.

"You have so much potential."

"...learn for myself?" she repeats quietly to herself.

Something seems so... promising. And, she's never really been the sort to have noticeable potential - her one true ability is one she was born with. Still, the auror in her feels a little unsure.

"Potential for what?" she asks.

"To learn, of course," Lilith smiles reassuringly. "Well, to learn the things that I'd be able to teach you. They might be considered a little...dark, but that only makes them so much more poweful."
