"Quitters never win, and winners never quit."
Bad advice.
Winners quit all the time - they just quit the right stuff, at the right time!
We so often hear about people quitting their jobs or boyfriends/girlfriends (in some cases both) for better offers ahead. Indeed, quitting has become a strategic move to manage our career and our lives today.
So when is a good time to quit? And what to quit?
“Quit the wrong stuff. Stick with the right stuff. Have the guts to do one or the other,” advised Seth Godin in his little self-help book (The Dip) that teaches one when to quit and when to stick.
Sounds easy.
What is perceived as right and wrong is relative. It is based on our conveniences, preferences, alliances and purpose in life that only we ourselves know. And our time and resources in this world is limited - you can’t try to do everything, especially if you want to be the best in the world!
Time and resources have to be invested wisely to gain maximum returns in our pursuits. We want to be ‘shiny happy people’ (REM) brimming with success. We want to be happy in the process of achieving success and in our strive to be the best.
If you can’t be the best, and if you are unhappy in the process, then do something about it.
Quit.
Quitting opens up opportunities and possibilities. But it takes guts to quit. Our ordinary life demands us to have guts to meet the new and to accept the different in the change of experience. It is required for our survival in this world.
And we all have choices that is only limited by our imagination. We just have to decide what we want to stick and what we want to quit. We must have ambition and not accept our limitations because we are all potentially heros and geniuses - if only we have the guts and to do the hard work necessary to becoming so.

Jump - Madonna (2005)
There’s only so much you can learn in one place
The more that I wait, the more time that I waste
I haven’t got much time to waste, it’s time to make my way
I’m not afraid of what I’ll face, but I’m afraid to stay
I’m going down my own road and I can make it alone
I'll work and I'll fight, Till I find a place of my own
Are you ready to jump?
Get ready to jump
Don’t ever look back, oh baby
Yes, I’m ready to jump
Just take my hands
Get ready to jump!
