i skipped out on my 16 mile long run today. pretty awesome, and to be frank i'm not feeling too bad about it anyway. my cousin (who i'm training with) hasn't run with me for over a month because he's injured so i've lost all motivation to run on my own.
here's the deal. in less than a month i fly to california to run my first ever marathon. after training all winter in below freezing temperatures, i've forgotten why i like running. i had a great 14 mile run, but that was almost two weeks ago and i can't rely on that to take me all the way to 26.2 miles. i'd like to train up to 20 miles, but i don't know if i'll even be able to do that at this point. i've got no time to run, no one to run with and no personal motivation to get me out there. putting on those running shoes has become harder and harder.
so on april 24 is sunny big sur california, i will probably have to walk some of the 26.2 miles and i may not get the time i want ... but, i'll be running on the coast of the united states and after that day i won't have to stress about running for a long time (well at least until training starts for the chicago marathon).
