I like that in order to be a writer all you have to do is write something, anything on a piece of paper or in a journal, and viola! you're a writer. I went to a writing workshop last week and damn. It was the most vulnerable, liberating, nerve wracking, cathartic experience EVER. It was a really great workshop. The leader was really helpful in explaining different techniques and methods. We did some developing and at the end we wrote a paragraph and shared it with one another. It was a magical.
I haven't stretched these muscles in a long time. What a challenge. I love it.
I finished my first book of 2017. I'm so proud of myself. I've been trying to learn how to be okay with myself as a slow/distracted reader. I've only finished a handful of books in my life. Not because I don't love reading, but because I love reading so much. I'll start 10 different books because the content of each excites me. I'm doing a mix of "old" books (books I probably should have read in high school) and social justice books. I've also thrown in a few contemporary fictions.
Fuck I need a three day weekend.
