"Okay, now, everyone has to settle down," Grandfather said, shooing everyone into the living room and trying to grab onto the stray children. Kimihiro sighed and grabbed one of the twins, and his grandfather gave him a grateful look.
"Sit down, Yasuji-kun," he said, sitting down next to his mother. She gave him a big, sweet smile and took Yasuji from him, ruffling the boy's brown hair.
"Don't trouble Kimihiro-niichan too much," she said. "Oniichan, Yukito-san, hurry up, Father is setting up the camera!"
"Ah," Uncle Touya said, entering the room with Uncle Yukito close behind him. Uncle Yukito was holding Yasuji's twin, Chisaki.
"Where's Syaoran-kun?" Auntie Tomoyo asked, as she tied one last glittery barrette into Mother's hair. Kimihiro drew a blank.
"I don't know," he said slowly. "I can't remember the last time I saw Dad...."
His mother patted his head. "Don't worry," she said, "he'll be here on time." A small plush toy popped up behind her shoulder and gave him a wink.
"My, my, Sakura-chan," said That Woman, "your Kimihiro-kun will have to work for me when he's old enough. I've never seen someone so responsible!" She gave him a sharp smile, but he was onto her. She just wanted someone to serve her alcohol all the time. Well, it wouldn't be him!
"When he's older," Uncle Touya said, as he and Uncle Yukito took their places, standing behind Mother. "The brat's not here yet?"
"He's not a brat," Mother said, distractedly settling the twins. "Sit down, now, both of you! Your uncles and grandfather and aunts want to have this family picture done right."
Kimihiro glanced around. His own parents were there, misty around the edges, but smiling and with large white wings. He recognized the ghostly-angelic form of his adopted grandmother, floating beside his Grandfather and giving him a smile.
"Where's Dad?" Yasuji asked. Chisaki was quiet--he was always more quiet than Yasuji--but he tugged Kimihiro's hand and echoed, "Where's Dad?"
"I don't know," Kimihiro said quietly, and looked around. Auntie Tomoyo was already settling down on the stool set up behind the divan he and Mother and the twins were sitting on. That Woman (who insisted on being called Yuuko) was draping herself against the mantle in the background, next to his dead and bewinged parents. Uncles Touya and Yukito were sitting down and Uncle Touya was straightening Uncle Yukito's tie. The twins were, at last, no longer squirming, and Kero-san was curled around Mother's neck. Grandfather was still fussing with the camera, but Dad was no where in sight.
"It isn't like Syaoran to be late," Mother said, her eyes serious and her teeth worrying her lip.
"I'll find him," Uncle Touya said. He walked over to the hallway and disappeared. Kimihiro resisted the urge to squirm. Firstly, he was old enough to endure a little sitting, and secondly, he had to set a good example for the twins. It was tough being the elder brother, even if he was adopted.
"Here's the brat," Uncle Touya said, as he dragged Dad into the room with one hand. Dad was largely ignoring him, as per usual; he and Uncle Touya didn't seem to ever really get along, even though their uncles visited at least once a week. Kimihiro had never really understood it, himself.
Dad was carrying a large mirror. "I knew we had it somewhere," he said to Mother, as he set the mirror up beside Uncle Yukito. A young man with large angel wings and long white hair was reflected, and looked as surprised as Uncle Yukito.
"Ah, thank you!" Mother said, as she beamed at Dad. "Now Yue-san can be in the picture, too!"
"Places everyone," Grandfather said, as he pressed buttons and hurriedly set up the camera. Dad squeezed in next to Kimihiro on the divan and got his legs out of the way just in time, as Grandfather hastened to stand between That Woman and Auntie Tomoyo.
"Smile everyone," Mother said, and Kimihiro did as she asked--though later, they'd find Yue looking annoyed but pleased, Yasuji looking confused, and Uncle Touya giving Dad bunny ears.

Well, I mean, those were just guidelines. Watanuki + CCS = happy family is what I wanted. I mean, Cloney (or Real!Fake!Syaoran) would've been nice too, but I am not picky.
Re: Hmm, here you are:sparklyfantaOctober 21 2008, 06:21:16 UTC
:) That's where the twins came in--I wanted TRC!Syaoran(s), but I didn't honestly think they'd be called "Syaoran" (or "Syaoron," for that matter), so I went with made-up names.
Hee, Touya will never stop being a pestering older brother. You know after she saw the picture Sakura wailed, "O~NII~CHAN!" and tried to demurely kick him where the kids couldn't see.

Awwww, that was so cute! :3
Really, it was about time we got to read a happy family fic.
I've been following Tsubasa ever since the first chapter came out, and back then I was absolutely terrified when I found out who the main characters were. Why? because the tone was obviously darker and more serious than CCS, and I already knew how Clamp handles those stories. I knew Sakura and Syraoran would end up suffering a lot... I just didn't expect them to suffer so much. And the knowledge of what happened to the real Sakura and Syaoran didn't help, either. I wanted them to have a happy ending all the way... >_<
So I'm really glad you wrote this, just curious... would the twins be, per chance, Tsubasa's syaoran and the clone? and how did you pick the names and what do they mean?
