You probably won't see me getting political much here - I have a few issues that I have opinions about (well, maybe a lot) but I don't blog about them all that much. Still, after watching the vice presidential candidate debate, I wanted to say a few things.
(
ooh, I'm being long-winded. LIKE BIDEN. )
I like Joe Lieberman (though I may be spelling that wrong) because he was democratic, but then he decided he was better off as an independent because he WAS a moderate, and leaned to both sides of the spectrum at times. He's willing to cross party lines, and he, too, is a good guy. Even my mom, a serious conservative, likes him. Also, he's an independent and still a very successful and well-respected senator, and he can get away with being Gore's running mate and yet eight years later officially supporting McCain without people being like, "HOMG this guy's such a flip-flopper," because he is so moderate.
Though I tend to lean on the liberal side, it's much more important to me that there's a willingness to be bipartisan in the executive branch. There hasn't been that willingness in decades, and I think it's a big reason that the country is so screwed up. I felt that Richardson and Lieberman (though they probably never even contemplated running together) would be willing to do that. I feel like McCain would do it, too, as he's been known to go up against other Republicans and cross party lines as well, but since he's officially the Republican candidate, I feel he'll submit to the conservative right and be very partisan. I worry about Obama as well.

Wow, random, and I told you next to nothing of their policy. Sorry. I like Richardson's views, but they're not nearly as important to me as the ability to be a good president. I felt Richardson would have been an excellent president.
