I can't be specific, but it's mostly about being part of a weird surrogate family and having to figure out priorities.
Okay, um, it's probably obvious that I'm thinking superheroes/X-Men, but: 1. Fitting in, in the surrogate family. Everyone brings something different to the table. 2. Surrogate family contrasted with biological family. 3. An outsider even in a group of outsiders. 4. Nobody understands your particular difference. 5. Conversely, you don't feel as unique/special now that you're a member of a group of people who are like you in some way. 6. Romantic feelings complicate the family vibe. 7. Forced to choose between life before you met this surrogate family (friends, bio family members, things that were once important to you) and new values that your surrogate family might have.
I have no idea if any of this is helpful: - who cooks what (everyone has a family recipe, or a specialty, right?) - bathroom order (anyone get first?) - when do you stop thinking of them as "these people" and think of them as "my family"?
Being sick. I realize I'm close with my parents, but when I'm sick I call my mom and just hearing her voice makes me feel better. I call my sister and she's sympathetic. When you're sick, with a cold or the flu, you need comfort.
What about things like chores and shopping and television schedules? Or sleeping in and not knowing whether you have to get dressed to go watch tv or are safe in your PJs? Insomnia. Kitchen!fic. Getting into trouble for something and realizing that even the people who love you can be irritated at you.

If everyone was on an airplane, what would they bring to read/do?
Where are they happiest?
