return of the prompt post

Suffering from writer's block with only a couple days to finish my boostlethon and ricstar entries. In the spirit of getting fic done, can I get some drabble prompts? Once I get on a roll, I should be okay, but right now I'm stagnating.

1. Theme is late afternoon/early evening2. Fandoms are at the top of my journal page ( Read more... )

fic: x-factor, fic: supernatural, original fiction, fic: marvelverse, fic: havemercy, request post, fic: harry potter, series: college fusion

Disclaimer: I'm not really all that experienced at prompts, but I do have experience with tangential thought. Consider these more like starting points, and feel free not to use any of them.

1. In the 17th/18th century, one of the (two) main meals of the day was Dinner, which was served in the late afternoon/early evening. A conversation at a dinner table (heaped with food). Suggested fandoms: Shakespeare's 'Fools' (Feste, Jaques, Falstaff) and assorted characters; Torchwood; Star Trek.

2. "Virtue is relative at best: there's nothing worse than a sunset when you're driving due west" - Ani DiFranco. The dusky side of life. (Harry Potter, Good Omens, ...?)

3. (really not a prompt?) In the Celtic and Jewish traditions, the day ends and begins at Sundown. Life starts with death, instant rebirth. As evening draws down on Fridays, (faithful) Jews prepare for the Sabbath.

(I like this kind of prompt much better than single words, anyway. I hope this works. Thanks!)

Even after hacking off most of his beard and attempting to comb his hair, Sirius still looks like some kind of madman. He laughs at the face in the window, because that's what Azkaban does to 'em, right? Makes 'em look as evil as they're painted. Better off a dog.

So it's a dog with slightly tidier fur that jumps in the back of a truck and heads west. Sun's blinding enough that he doesn't have to see himself in the reflective window. Sirius closes his eyes and tries to ignore his nose, tries to sense nothing at all but the bumps in the road, telling him he's finally, finally free.

The sun only hits Julio's wall this way this time of year, but when it does it lights up the whole room. This time it's also lighting up 'Star, who's sitting on the edge of the bed, having just asked some question or another that Julio already doesn't remember. Julio finds himself smiling, the muscles in his face pulling in almost unfamiliar ways, and 'Star smiles back as blinding as the sunset.
