I finally remembered what I wanted to post the other day but forgot to in the midst of typing. First a small rant on the sense of smell. Olfactory. Just say it a few times. "I get so overwhelmed by olfactory hues." Ah, Phish, you always know just what to say. So smell is an odd sense. I don't want to offend anyone here but it seems like the ( Read more... )

Weird. I was just thinking about how I have no sense of smell. My one good roommate (coincidentally, the only other true Southerner here... fuck Texas, that is NOT the South... we only accept those that TIP in the South)... anyway... my one good roommate was saying that the idiot man child roommate smelled terrible. When people say such things, I always get nervous, because I can't really smell at ALL (constant sinus stoppage) and that means I could really smell like ass and no one would tell me, the same way we haven't told the man-child. So now I've upped the showers from one a day to two: before and after work. Before, I would shower before work, and then just wash my forearms, because those are the only part of me exposed to the world, and generally, they get kind of gunky by the end of 9 hours of gas-pumping fun... So - I was just getting out of the shower, wondering how terrible it is to never smell anything strongly... And suddenly, the answer appears: it's ok, because if I could smell, I'd have to have wasted brain space on the scent of Robert Peach. Now those cells can be redirected to something else. In fact, scents are so primal they might not be erasable, but now that I only have a name in my memory banks (his picture is already deleted) I might be able to mentally purge myself of him entirely.

On a side note, I can't tell if I should grow the hair back to my normal, or just say fuck it and keep it short, because I can do trimming, but not my own hair cuts... how cheap do I want to be? How lazy? Is it lazier to shave myself every couple of weeks, or to drive myself across town every couple of months? Should I destroy the weaklings that I see every day, or merely let them continue their own destructive spirals and laugh at their floundering? Things I think about all day.
