joint custody, old men and lottery tickets

Begin rant - I think that I oddly understand how my parents feel with the whole joint custody thing...or did, before they became good enough friends to not be annoying. Bret is a friend that I met through a boyfriend (who I will refer to simply as ykz). They were best friends in high school. After dating ykz for, essentially a lifetime and a half, I ended up being pretty good friends with Bret and, especially after going to college and breaking up with ykz for the third, eighth, etc, time, would hang out with him minus ykz. A few weeks ago, ykz and I (mind you, we were not dating and have not been since last August) had yet another breakup-esque time. Now we're like these awful divorced parents with joint custody of Bret. Bret's birthday was last week (as previously noted) and I wanted to take him out to lunch on Sunday. Apparently ykz also had plans for doing something with Bret. He said, and I (almost quote) that we needed to find some way to share him and that I should call his cellphone and leave a message (he doesn't really want to talk to me at this point, the conversation was on AIM) telling him when I would be done hanging out with Bret. Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous in an amusing yet disturbing way? - End rant
So today was my first day at the convenience store. Sort of boring but not the worst job I've ever had. (I worked at The Gap, actually, Gap Kids, in Wellesley...Imagine Satan's pushy, minivan driving, pearl wearing bitchass mother, that's a Wellesley soccer mom) There's a cat who lives in the store and most people only come in for cigarette, soda, or lottery tickets. I think it will improve my hearing as well. The majority of the customers have accents of a sort and in order to have a clue what they're saying, I have to pay a lot of attention. I think most of my hearing troubles come from just zoning out so perhaps this will encourage me to mke an effort.
Also, my family is insane. I think we're addicted to cars.
That is all.
