“I think I like this stuff,” Glitch said as he licked at his ice cream cone.
“I think you do Glitch,” DG laughed, “That's your third cone.”
“Really? I didn't notice...”
Jack nudged Ianto in the side. “He's just adorable isn't he,” He whispered.
Ianto tried not to roll his eyes. “I thought you liked the other one sir.” He replied before liking at his own (vanilla) ice cream.
“I do, I was talking on your behalf.” Ianto coughed, sputtering into his ice cream. Jack laughed and clapped him on the back. “He's sort of like you actually. He's incredibly important to his group, keeps them going and doesn't even know it. They'd fall apart without him, just like we would without you.”
“I just make the tea sir.”

They were walking down the sidewalk, DG leading the way followed closely by Jack and Cain with Ianto and Glitch bringing up the rear.
“Don't worry about Jack,” Ianto told Glitch in a quiet voice. “He's harmless. Incorrigible but harmless. He won't really try to steal Cain from you, or you from him. All you really have to worry about is lewd jokes and propositions for threesomes,”
Glitch's eyes went very wide at that comment. “Huh. He kissed me,” Glitch said suddenly.
Ianto nodded. “Yep, I was in the room the whole time actually. You're a better dancer then he is.”
Glitch grinned. “It's all about rhythm.”
“So!” Jack's voice raised in volume. “There I was, butt naked in front of two female robots ready to actually saw my face off-” Jack rambled on with his story. DG hung off every word. Cain slowed back and fell into pace beside Glitch and Ianto.
“Is he always telling stories like that?”
“Ah, yes,” Ianto nodded. He was about to say something else when Jack's cell rang.
“Hello?” Jack stopped walking abruptly, turning to face the group. “Are you sure?” His face went through a series of different expresses starting at surprised and ending in very worried. He flipped the phone shut and looked up. “Run.” He stated simply. Glitch dropped his ice cream cone.

“What's wrong?” DG shouted at Jack as they ran at full speed down the street.
“We capture aliens DG. What do you think is wrong?”
Her eyes widened to an impossible size and she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Glitch kept glancing over at Cain with a lot of worry in his eyes. He still wasn't entirely sure what 'an alien' was but the one in the cell at the hub didn't look very friendly. None of them had really expected to get caught up in anything alien related. If the thought had crossed Glitch's mind he probably would have refused to leave the hub.
“We should be fine!” Jack called back. We just have to get pas-” His words died as they turned a corner to find themselves roadblocked. Standing in the center of the road was the grossest creature Glitch, Cain and DG had ever seen. It was tall and a sort of sickly orange color. It's wasn't gigantic but it was large and it's limbs were sort of tentacle like.
“And this was turning out to be a good day. Cain, do you really have your gun under that jacket?”
“Never leave home without it.”
“Good. Take it out. Ianto?”
“Already on it sir,” Ianto replied, hastily pulling out his gun.
DG grabbed Glitch be the arm and pulled him back as the three men advanced with their guns.“They'll be okay,” DG whispered, clutching Glitch's arm tightly. Glitch reached over and took her hand. He couldn't remove his eyes from the alien. His heart was pounding as Jack opened fired.
The alien charged, swinging it's limbs and letting out a shrill shriek. It went for Cain first but he ducked and rolled out of the way. The thing held one of it's tentacles up and moved to swing it back down on Cain again but Jack jumped in the way, taking the blow instead. DG clamped her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming.
“It's alright!” Ianto yelled at them.”He's not hurt.”
But to them it looked like just the opposite. Jack wasn't moving. “He'll be alright.” Glitch whispered. “I think.”
Then Jack took a huge gulp of air and pulled himself back to his feet. He grabbed his gun off the ground and opened fire on the alien once more. It shrieked again, falling back and flailing it's limps.
“Glitch! Move!” DG yelled but it was to late. One of the tentacles swung out and sideswiped him on the side DG wasn't on. She screamed as they toppled to the ground. She caught Glitch with her body. “Glitch!” She cried, trying to seeing if he was okay.
“Glitch!” Cain dropped his gun and sprinted to were the two of them lay. Glitch wasn't conscious but he was breathing. Cain brushed Glitch's hair from his face. “Sweetheart?” He helped move Glitch off DG carefully and lay him on the ground. He had completely forgot the fight going on behind him. All his attention was on Glitch.

The rest of the team came as fast as they could and helped to take down the rouge alien. Glitch wasn't doing well at all. His breath was shallow and there were deep bruises and cuts on his side. Cain held his hand the whole way back to the hub. He could barely hear anything Owen was telling him about the wounds. He couldn't take his eyes away from Glitch.
~~ ~~ ~~
There was a toxin on the alien's skin that got into Glitch's bloodstream through the wounds on his side. Owen demanded silence while he worked and hearded everyone else out of the medical room.
Cain wasn't very good at waiting patiently. He paced the hug, wringing his hands around the edge of his hat. DG sat half curled in a chair watching him with sad eyes. Ianto made him tea.
Jack eventually cornered him in part of the hub and put a hand on his shoulder. “Owen knows what he's doing.” Jack doesn't give false hope. He fully believed Owen would be able to help Glitch. The alien wasn't an especially rare one. There was an anecdote for it's toxin.
“I'm not supposed to let Glitch get hurt.” Cain said finally.
“You feel guilty about what happened? That was in no way your fault.”
“I'm not saying I let that happen. I'm just saying it's my job to take care of Glitch. I didn't do that.”

The moment Owen walked out of the medical room with a little smile on his face Cain felt like someone moved a crushing weight from his chest. He slipped into the medical room and sat beside Glitch. “Morn'ng Sweetheart,” He mumbled, running a thumb over Glitch's cheek.
Glitch blinked up at him. “What happened? I was eating eating ice cream then...”
“It doesn't matter. You're alright now.” Cain bent down and kissed his forehead. “I was worried about you for a moment Sweetheart.” Glitch wrapped one arm around Cain's neck and held him close. He kissed Cain's cheek.
“My side hurts.”
