So I ended up going to the Weakerthans show. I first bumped into Brendan, my old acquaintance from Northern (and Matt Draimin's compadre) waiting for the Spadina Streetcar in the Station. We talked on the streetcar until we pulled into College St. We noticed jst how long the line-up was. He said he was meeting Jsin and Matt and I was aboutto go with him when I got pulled aside by Visnja who was already even closer in the line-up and I guess understandably since she'd been standing for 3 hours. I feel bad for not letting Brendan know that I was budding my bud into where she was and that I didn't sy hi to J & M. I tried loking for them after and before the weakerthans played but to no such luck. I actually didn't have a super-shitty time which was my concern before. I had an okay conversation with Visnja's friend, Katherine before which made good of anxious pre-show annoyance. The heat meter I have to say was understandably high, but by no means was I as hot as some other people. I didn't feel like I was too packed in like sardines (that was the concern though). Weakerthans played shortly after 6:00, playing a lot of exciting new songs(Some new songs I remember them playing from the last time they came) from their recently out-disc 'Reconstruction Site' (which I would have bought had I the moola to $pend but hence the fact I was able to go to the show because it was free/affordable).
They also played lots from 'Left and Leaving' and only 2 songs from 'Fallow' ('Wellington's Wednesdays' and 'Confessions..').They did pretty good for an hour and a half (= set + 2 encores), and it was pretty funny that at the end when I eft out the backway he was there and I was like "John K., you did a good show". I say this was funny because of the fact that I bumped into him in Kensington's Market late at night when I left Last Temptation the same night that Hidden Cameras and Weakerthans were both playing different shows in Toronto and half-sort of drunk I go "Hey It's John K."! Anyway, it was just very appropriate even if you're going 'I don't get what he's talking about'. 'Twas a Good Show, mate!
