Elliott Smith killed himself
I find it very depressing that this singer who I really emotionally connected to musically, killed himself two days ago. I onlyfound out last night. And when they told me he stabbed himself in the heart I thought they were just playing a meanspirited joke on me. But it's true. Sad but true. I mean if any musician was ever going to kill themselves, it's not too hard to consider that Elliott might choose to do so. He's not the cheeriest singer. He's very melancholy and the type of genre of music, though rooted in acoustic folk like that of Nick Drake, is sometimes classified as Sadcore, just because of how sad it is. I was actually concerned about Elliott because he didn't record an album since 'Figure 8' in 2000, he was basically turning into a recluse, his site was never updated, his fansite sweetadeline.net was the only site with any sort of up-to-date info on him, and when I was excited by the prospect of his new single coming out ("Pretty (Ugly Before)") I heard it and it was just to sad. The spirit of the song and everything. Anyway I know I haven't updated in a while but I will do so shortly.
