We have our tree! Well, sort of.
Dad and I noticed the other day that there were new-looking trees on the street behind us. When mom got an email about the new parkway trees weeks ago, it said that the vast majority of the trees would arrive in November. Well, it's November, and there's only so much time left to plant--we got a tiny dusting of snow overnight, for example--so we figured it had to be soon. Soon ended up being 8 o'clock this morning, when a noisy truck came down the street and guys started dropping off trees in the area. They must not have had all the trees for our block, because the people next to us didn't get anything in the one part of the parkway, but on the other side of their driveway their third tree got delivered. This happened early enough that I hadn't even gone out to get the paper, so when I went to do that I checked the tag on the tree--Skyline Locust. Wait, weren't we supposed to get a linden? It's been so long I forgot. Nope; our first choice had been the honeylocust, and the second was the linden. Okay, that's fine; besides, the people next door are getting a couple lindens, it looks like, plus the tree that got delivered may have been the crabapple, so I'll still get to see some of the other trees I liked.
Now to get them in the ground. These guys were just delivering them; they're sitting on the parkway sideways for the time being.
