I broke down and hacked away at my hair just a short time ago. As per usual, it's needed it for months, and since I'd just gotten out of the shower and it was wet and clean, well, what the heck. It had been partway down my back; it's now at my shoulders. That really seems to be the ideal length--long enough to do something with, but without too many split ends. Well, except for the front part.
This is the thing--if I had bangs, I probably wouldn't have such icky hair. But my tendency to get greasy in under 24 hours means it's better if I can easily keep my hair away from my face. The problem is I find it hard to cut the front of my hair properly. If only I could pop off my scalp and put it on a mannequin or something. Having to contort myself to make sure I'm cutting in some form of a straight line isn't ideal.
The thing with the front part is that it hasn't been in a good way for years, but it's even worse after working at the farm. It was very windy there, and I found it was best if I kept my hair pinned back. Still, my hair got whipped, especially the front-most hair--the stuff that comes off the crown--and short of cutting it all off I'm stuck with split ends. I stood there for a few moments trying to figure out how to cut it so it looked decent, but I always seem to have trouble, so I ended up just leaving it alone for now. I can always do something later, though knowing me that won't be before summer.
