I am not above lying to the people who come to my house claiming that the "recent hailstorm" has caused damage and oh, by the way, X company is in the area fixing your neighbors' roofs and do I want a free estimate?
No. No I do not. Because I rent, and the people who own the place don't live in the area.
At least, that's what I tell them. Because they don't need to know that "the area" means "the foyer proper," and by "renting" I mean "paying the gas bill."
Also, what recent hailstorm? The guy answered, April 6th.
...That was a month and a half ago. You're just coming *now*? Also, if I recall correctly, the hail was pea-sized. We haven't had significant hail in quite some time. Having the roof replaced for two minutes of pea-sized hail seems like a tad bit of overkill.
The worst part is that he came to the door while I was eating a soy ice cream sandwich and had chocolate cookie all over my fingers. I wouldn't have answered the door except I was sitting at the kitchen table and therefore was visible from the front door. Rats.
