Let's go back ten years
This seemed timely, I feel like typing *something*, and I'm a klepto, remember?
Senior Year of High School
[What year was it?]
1994-95
[What were your three favorite bands?]
Um...Wind Ensemble, Marching Bulldogs, and Jazz Ensemble?
(Yeah...didn't listen to a lot of pop music back them. Oh, but I forgot about Hootie. I did like the Hootie.)
[What was your favorite outfit?]
Jeans and a T-shirt. Very basic. Or I'd throw a sweatshirt on in the wintertime.
(Or, I'd match the T-shirt of the guy I liked. Seriously. I had this theory that we'd wear the same clothes as the other, I tested the theory, and I proved the theory to be correct.)
(Frank, you are not allowed to make comments about that. Especially 'cause we really didn't know each other back then.)
[What was up with your hair?]
It was okay. I actually didn't know my hair was curly back then, so it had a frizz to it. It was shoulder-length, part bright blond, part dark blond (I was growing out a bottle of hair lightener).
[Who were your best friends?]
Betsy, Carrie, Sarah, Valerie, Jessica, Judy, John-o, Carey, Sendie (I regret the last two)
[What did you do after school?]
Wait for my mom and my dog to pick me up.
Oh, wait, extracurricular stuff.
Tuesdays. Ah, Tuesdays. Jazz rehearsal night. *sigh*
And, in the winter/spring, musical rehearsal.
Once a month I'd get the notice that we were having an NHS meeting--that evening--but I was only able to make it to two meetings, I believe.
[Where did you work?]
I didn't.
[Did you take the bus?]
I lived too close. This was even before they put a street through that pretty much connects my subdivision to my high school, so I'd have to cut through fields or parking lots, or else take the lo-o-ong way around the block. I walked to school my whole senior year.
[Who did you have a crush on?]
Jeff. I thought everyone knew that. ;)
[Did you fight with your parents?]
Absolutely. Senior year, particularly at Christmas time, was the closest I've been to being depressed.
[Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?]
Tom Cruise
[Did you smoke cigarettes?]
No
[Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?]
No
[Did you have a 'clique'?]
No
[Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?]
No. There really wasn't a place to go like that.
(I think Shoney's had closed by then, and we hated it anyway.)
[Admit it, were you popular?]
No. But by this time I wasn't a total wallflower, either.
[Who did you want to be just like?]
Actually, probably Betsy. She was smart and talented and well-liked. She was also very sure of herself. I admire that about her.
[What did you want to be when you grew up?]
I didn't think about it back then, really. Probably just something famous.
[Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?]
Again, I didn't really think about it. By that time I really enjoyed high school and didn't want to leave. I couldn't think about college, let alone years past that. I certainly didn't think I'd be where I am today, how's that?
