I have a dream...that we'll sell everything for $3

Jan 17, 2005 21:27

We closed the calendar store last week, and its fixtures got picked up today. Everything from downstairs was brought up. Mainly, that included calendars, but there were also games. We had been told that we were to send the games to another store. Then, we weren't able to call the store that was to receive our games, so we called the DMA (person in charge of kiosks)...who then said, why not try selling the games at $3, like the calendars? As soon as we started stickering the games, people were coming up and picking them up, two and three at a time. At one point we'd filled almost a whole four-shelf display with the games; by the time I left, only one shelf had anything left. It was a madhouse.
Kids off of school + $3 games = It's Christmas time all over again!
I was exhausted already, and it was really warm in the store; add to that all the bodies that swarmed (because the calendars were $3, too), and I was completely drained by about four o'clock.
Bad news: I didn't get off until 6:15.
Worse news: I was alone from 3:15 until 6.
It did slow down after 3:30, and by 5:30 the store was basically empty. We still sold a *lot* of stuff, and we easily made plan. I can't wait to go through the numbers tomorrow morning to see how much of everything we did end up selling.
